I don't know if that was the problem or not, but it is good to see you are up and running. Part of the problem you were experiencing may have been due in fact, to RoxioWatch going through its paces of indexing all of the folders on your computer. I turn off RoxioWatch via msconfig, so I never had it run. Has anyone else noticed that the problem is gone? Well I am a happier camper, but I still don't like how they managed this problem.

Did it update behind my back? Could one of the RoxWatch* processes be responsible for automatically updating. Please do not lecture me on the complexities of software development because that is my business.įor some reason, EMC seems to be working now. I paid for a working copy and more than met the minimum configuration requirements. I could spend hours troubleshooting their problem, but that is not my job. There was probably a hook left in the Registry that is battling with a hook the EMC Central requires when it loads the Welcome messages in the center window. I suspect that part of the problem has something to do with the version of EMC that came on my Dell PC.

The two machines are almost configured identically except for some hardware differences and the fact that this machine had a lite version of EMC where my desktop had the full version of EMC 7. Last night, after I saw this fix posted, I reinstalled RoxioEMCSuitev9.0_efisd_R03.exe, got the buffer overrun error, then installed RoxioContentCDv9.0_SUI.exe, executed bo_hotfix.exe, and launched EMC9. About 3 weeks ago, I uninstalled and deleted every trace of Easy Media Creator 9. I'm not getting too much sleep lately (not related to anything here), so I can't exactly remember how or where I found bo_hotfix.exe, but it definitely worked. Just wanted to let you know that bo_hotfix.exe fixed my 'buffer overrun' problem, and everything now seems copasetic. If anyone had called us with this issue, this is the fix they would have received. We wanted to have a certain number of confirmed fixes before we released it to the public. I posted a link to the Buffer Overrun Fix at the top of this forum.
